George Gwynne ( - )
George Gwynne was a farmer in the Catlins area and started as relief keeper at Nugget Point 2 He applied to the Marine Department for a permanent position and was appointed to Dog Island as 1st Assistant Keeper December, 1896. 2
George left the service as he felt his children needed to learn a trade and children's education was difficult in the service. He bought a dairy farm in Taranaki in 1908. 2
